Is the Fujifilm XF14mm F2.8 a must have lens? What would you choose as the ultimate wide angle for traveling with your Fuji mirrorless camera?
Not so long ago we didn't have many options in the high-quality wide-angle range however, things have changed. We are now almost spoilt for choice with the 14mm, the excellent XF16mm F1.4, and the versatile XF10-24mm F4 OIS plus the offerings from other manufacturers like the Zeiss Touit 12mm F2.8 and the affordable Rokinon 12mm F2.
So when I was looking for a wide lens for travel I needed to narrow the field a little. When I travel I need to stay light and small, so the XF14mm seems to fit the bill rather well.
Not only it is smaller that the other offerings from Fujifilm but it is also tack sharp and shows very little if any distortion.
But is it a must own Fujifilm lens? And is it good on the go? Well, after a year of jetting around the world with my camera gear I would like to share my thoughts in the video below.
Here's a few of the images I made in India using this little but powerful piece of glass mounted on my X-Pro2.
As you can see, the XF14mm F2.8 is capable of producing some incredible images that are very sharp corner to corner from around F4 onto F8 with little to no distortion, just exhibiting the expected deformation...
I have used this lens now extensively having shot with it around the world. I can conclude that for me, it's a must have!
